    Mission Statement

I am stepping forward in this campaign because I believe New Yorkers deserve leadership rooted in honesty, compassion, and common-sense solutions. Our state has endured difficult moments and deep frustration with systems that failed to protect us, and many feel unheard or left behind. I am running because no one should feel they have to leave the place they love in order to find opportunity, safety, or stability. New Yorkers deserve better—and together, we can build it.

This movement is not about reliving past failures; it is about building a future where integrity guides our government and where the voices of everyday people shape the decisions that affect their lives. This is a New York renewal—one focused on restoring trust, empowering communities, and ensuring that every resident has the chance to thrive.

We will shift power away from entrenched political insiders and return it where it belongs: to the people. For too long, government has grown distant, expensive, and unresponsive. By refocusing our priorities, we will reduce waste, eliminate corruption, and ensure that your hard-earned money is spent responsibly on essential services—not political gamesmanship.

We will champion a government that works with people, not against them. That means lowering taxes to make life affordable again, cutting unnecessary regulations that stifle progress, and modernizing our criminal justice system to keep communities safe while ensuring fairness and accountability. Above all, we will lead with common sense—something New Yorkers have been craving for decades.

But our greatest mission is unity. We will rise above the politics of division and replace the “us vs. them” mentality with a shared purpose: making New York the best state to live, work, raise a family, and pursue your dreams. People before party. Solutions before slogans. Hope before fear.

New York’s story is not finished. Families who once felt they had no choice but to leave will feel confident staying. Communities will grow stronger. Opportunity will return. And together, we will restore New York’s place as the greatest state in the nation.

If you have ever heard a friend or neighbor say they can no longer afford to live here, you understand the urgency of our work. I vow to reverse that trend—to bring affordability, stability, and optimism back to every corner of our state by cutting through the red tape, reforming outdated systems, and applying the simple, powerful principle of common sense to every decision.

Keep reading to discover the detailed plan for how we will revitalize New York—together.

    Education Reform

A strong and thriving New York begins with strong and thriving schools. Every child—no matter their ZIP code, background, or family circumstance—deserves a world-class education and the opportunity to reach their full potential. That is why investing in our schools will always be a top priority. We will ensure every local district has the resources needed to succeed and support the next generation. As a proud member of the NYS PTA, I will never stop advocating for our children’s well-being, their opportunities, and their future.

Family engagement is a cornerstone of student success, and we will build a statewide volunteer initiative to strengthen parent involvement—including encouraging more fathers and male role models to participate in school life, helping students feel supported both at home and in the classroom.

We also learned important lessons during the pandemic. Should another public health crisis ever arise, we will ensure that responses are rooted in science, compassion, and common sense—never one-size-fits-all policies that compromise students’ well-being or place unreasonable burdens on families.

    Reducing Unfunded Mandates

For too long, Albany has passed down mandates without providing the necessary funding—forcing local schools to make painful choices. A clear example is the rushed electric school bus requirement, which was announced without adequate planning, funding, or infrastructure. We must protect districts from mandates that risk draining resources from programs students depend on, such as sports, music, clubs, and extracurricular activities. Our approach will be to collaborate with local leaders, set realistic timelines, and ensure every mandate is fully thought out and fully funded.

    Safe and Secure Schools

Children cannot learn if they do not feel safe. Every district’s security practices will be reviewed by a team of experts, and when improvements are needed, districts will have access to grants or low-cost loans so upgrades can be made quickly and responsibly. No school should ever be left vulnerable. Protecting our students is not political—it is a moral responsibility we all share.

    Universal Pre-K for Every Four-Year-Old

Early childhood education changes lives, and we will expand full Universal Pre-K to every district—not only the state’s largest cities. We will ensure grants are fully funded at the correct level so that districts do not have to sacrifice other critical programs in order to deliver Pre-K. Investing in children early is one of the smartest, most compassionate decisions a state can make.

    Financial Flexibility for Districts

New York must give school districts the tools to manage their budgets responsibly. For example, allowing districts to deposit funds in credit unions—like many other states do—will reduce borrowing costs and help keep local taxes stable. Big banks should not hold a monopoly on municipal funds. Flexibility empowers districts to stretch every dollar further on behalf of students and taxpayers.

    Cybersecurity & Modern Skills

To prepare students for a rapidly changing world, we will explore making cybersecurity education a standard offering in every high school. With scams and hacks becoming more common, we must equip young New Yorkers with the skills to protect themselves, their identities, and their future.

    Addressing Declining Enrollment

Like many states, New York faces declining birth rates that affect school enrollment. We will introduce family-friendly incentives that support parents, encourage growth, and strengthen our communities—ensuring our schools remain vibrant, well-funded, and full of opportunity.

    Supporting Healthy Students

We will maintain free breakfast and lunch programs for all elementary, middle-school, and high-school students, ensuring that every child can learn with dignity, without hunger, and without stigma.

    Strengthening District Reserves

Increasing the unrestricted reserve cap from 4% to 10% will allow districts to responsibly save for emergencies, stabilize their budgets, and better prepare for unexpected crises. New York State itself maintains reserve levels far higher than the current 4% district cap—it is only fair that our local schools have the same ability to plan ahead.

    Returning Power to Local Voters

We will support changing the current 60% supermajority requirement for budgets that exceed the tax cap to a simple majority vote. Local residents—parents, neighbors, taxpayers—should have the decisive voice in shaping their community’s educational future. Majority rule respects local democracy and empowers families to choose what is best for their children.

    College Access & Affordability

    A New Fast-Track Degree Path

We will introduce a new type of college degree that prioritizes career-focused learning—allowing students to take only the courses truly relevant to their future profession. This streamlined approach will reduce tuition costs, shorten the time to graduation, and help young adults achieve milestones like homeownership far sooner. For students who prefer the traditional college experience, that option will still remain. This is about offering flexibility, respecting personal goals, and eliminating unnecessary barriers. Employers also benefit when graduates have deeper expertise in their specific fields—an accounting firm wants an expert in accounting, not someone forced to take unrelated coursework. This is a win-win for students, families, and the workforce.

A Free New York Online University

We will launch a tuition-free New York Online University to expand access and affordability. This will give students a genuine choice, encourage innovation, and push private colleges to lower tuition, creating healthier competition and reducing student debt statewide.

    A New Era for Education

It is time for a modern, compassionate, common-sense revolution in education—one that honors our teachers, empowers our students, supports our families, and invests in the future of every New Yorker.

Together, we can build an education system that lifts communities, strengthens opportunity, and prepares the next generation to lead our state forward.

    Tax Reform

At the heart of our economic vision is a simple belief: New Yorkers deserve to keep more of the money they work so hard to earn. Our tax system should empower families, strengthen communities, and support growth—not weigh people down with burdens that make life unaffordable. Through responsible budgeting, smarter priorities, and streamlined government, we will deliver meaningful tax relief while protecting the services New Yorkers depend on.

We will lower taxes across the board by reducing waste, cutting through bureaucracy, and ensuring every dollar is spent wisely and transparently. A smaller, more efficient government means fewer loopholes, fewer special carve-outs, and a fairer system for everyone. Our aim is to eliminate the maze of taxes that too often feels like triple taxation on ordinary residents simply trying to get ahead.

    A Simpler, Fairer Tax Structure

Our long-term goal is to phase out the income tax in New York State and transition to a simpler, more predictable sales-tax-based system. This approach allows people to keep more of their paycheck while fostering a pro-growth environment that attracts businesses, strengthens communities, and revitalizes the middle class.

We will also gradually reduce the property tax burden so that homeownership becomes more attainable—and so families no longer feel like they are renting their homes from the government forever. Hidden fees and outdated charges—including vehicle registration costs, inspection fees, tolls, and congestion pricing—will be reviewed and either lowered or eliminated. Our guiding principle is fairness, transparency, and relief for everyday families.

    Tourism Contribution for Budget Stability

To help ensure a smooth transition while keeping the state budget balanced, we may introduce a small 1% tourist contribution on short-term accommodations and vehicle rentals. This measure would apply only to visitors—not New York residents. Residents would simply provide their state ID or driver’s license number, including through online bookings like Airbnb, to be exempt. The duration of this contribution would depend on budget needs and would be revisited regularly to ensure it remains fair, temporary, and appropriate. Essential services—such as public safety, education, and support for vulnerable residents—will always be protected.

Reducing Housing Costs Through Smarter Policy

To help make housing more affordable and spur responsible development, construction materials for new housing would be exempt from sales tax. This simple and practical step will lower building costs, encourage new home construction across the state, and help families find beautiful, affordable places to live.

New Yorkers are ready for a tax system that reflects their values: fairness, opportunity, and a belief that hard work should pay off. Together, through common-sense reforms and a commitment to fiscal responsibility, we will build a stronger, more affordable, and more hopeful future for all.

    Healthcare Reform

Every New Yorker deserves access to quality, affordable healthcare—care they can trust, at a price they can manage. Health is the foundation of a strong and thriving community, and our approach will prioritize people over profits, transparency over confusion, and compassion over bureaucracy.

We will work closely with healthcare providers, insurers, and pharmaceutical companies to lower the cost of health insurance, prescription drugs, and routine medical visits. Families should not have to choose between paying a medical bill and paying their rent, and no parent should face a $500 charge for a brief pediatric appointment. We must bring common sense and fairness back into healthcare pricing.

    Respecting Individual Choice

Healthcare decisions should be made by individuals and families—not by politicians or lobbyists. Under our administration, no statewide vaccine mandates will be imposed on New Yorkers, and no worker will lose their job because of a personal medical decision. Parents will retain full authority to decide what is best for their children. Personal choice, transparency, and respect for individual circumstances will guide our policies, always.

Honoring and Caring for Our Veterans

New York’s veterans deserve unwavering support. We will strengthen protections to ensure that every veteran—regardless of income—receives comprehensive, timely care. For those with combat-related injuries not fully addressed by the VA, our state will create a supplemental program to close the gap and guarantee they receive the treatment they earned through their service.

All veterans will also be eligible for free audiology exams to address hearing loss, with no out-of-pocket cost for consultations. We will work to significantly reduce the cost of hearing aids, which can be life-changing for many. We will also continue studying promising, evidence-based treatments—including certain psychedelic therapies—that may help veterans coping with PTSD or chronic pain, ensuring safety and scientific rigor before formal adoption.

    Transparent and Fair Medical Pricing

New Yorkers have a right to know the true cost of their care. We will require clear price transparency for medical services and prescription medications, empowering patients to make informed decisions. Additionally, we will work to eliminate unnecessary barriers such as “out-of-network” restrictions so that insurance plans cover all licensed doctors and specialists. When people need care, they should be able to get it—period.

Supporting Pet Health and Strengthening Families

Pets bring love, comfort, and emotional support to so many households, and research shows they improve mental health and reduce loneliness. Yet the rising cost of veterinary care discourages many families from adopting or rescuing animals. We will explore policies that reduce the cost of veterinary services and medications, helping more families open their homes to pets while strengthening both animal welfare and community well-being.

Healthcare should be rooted in dignity, compassion, and common sense. By prioritizing affordability, transparency, personal choice, and support for those who served our nation, we will build a healthier, stronger, and more unified New York—one where every resident has the opportunity to live a better, longer, and more fulfilling life.

    Traffic Reduction

Time is one of the most valuable resources we have, and far too many New Yorkers lose hours each week sitting in traffic. As we work to make New York the best state in the nation to live and work, we must ensure that people can move around safely, efficiently, and without unnecessary delays. Reducing congestion is not only about convenience—it is about improving quality of life, supporting local businesses, and strengthening our economy. And raising tolls is not the answer; New Yorkers already contribute more than enough, and we must spend those dollars wisely.

Our plan focuses on practical, proven, and common-sense strategies that enhance safety, respect personal freedom, modernize our transportation systems, and keep our roads open and efficient.

Promoting Responsible Driving & Safer Roads

We will establish strong penalties for reckless driving that leads to preventable accidents and gridlock. Most drivers are responsible, and they deserve roads free from avoidable delays. Clear standards—such as maintaining lanes at safe speeds and avoiding dangerous weaving—will help protect everyone on the road. Accountability will be paired with education and fairness.

    Smart Right-on-Red Policies

Allowing safe right-on-red turns for all vehicles, including school buses, at intersections where visibility permits, will help keep traffic flowing. Our bus drivers are trained professionals who make judgment calls every day; we will empower them with the flexibility needed to keep routes timely and efficient while maintaining safety.

    Updating Outdated Requirements

We will modernize rules such as mandatory bus stops at railroad crossings. Today’s technology, vehicle safety systems, and improved rail infrastructure allow for more streamlined and sensible procedures—consistent with practices used by larger commercial vehicles.

    Ending Counterproductive Red-Light Cameras

We will phase out red-light camera programs that hinder traffic flow, create sudden braking hazards, and increase congestion. Our goal is to replace revenue-driven systems with evidence-based safety improvements that genuinely protect drivers rather than penalize them.

    Smarter Deployment of Law Enforcement

Police officers play a critical role in public safety, but stationary patrol cars on highways often cause abrupt slowdowns and backups. We will encourage highway patrol units to stay in motion while increasing officer presence at schools, train stations, shopping areas, and other community hubs. This will keep traffic flowing while also strengthening public safety where families need it most.

    Expanding Remote Work Options

To reduce road congestion and improve work-life balance, we will encourage one remote-work day per week—when job responsibilities allow it. This not only helps families but also opens opportunities for roadwork and infrastructure repair with fewer disruptions. A midweek model, such as Wednesdays, will be evaluated for maximum benefit.

Protecting Free Speech While Preserving Public Safety

New York will always uphold the right to protest peacefully. However, blocking highways and endangering drivers is not a protected form of speech. We will establish clear boundaries and penalties to ensure demonstrations remain safe, respectful, and non-disruptive.

    Modernizing Speed Limits

Today’s vehicles and roadways are safer and more capable than they were decades ago. We will review speed limits statewide to reflect modern standards—such as increasing certain highways from 55 to 65 mph while establishing commonsense minimum speeds. This will help traffic move more smoothly without compromising safety.

    Strengthening Driving Standards

Driving is a responsibility that evolves over time. To promote road safety, we will introduce a practical refresher driving test every 15 years, and more frequent updates beginning at age 70. This approach is not punitive—it is about ensuring all drivers have the skills and confidence needed to operate a vehicle safely.

Supporting Older Adults with Mobility Options

New Yorkers age 70 and older will be able to ride public transit—buses, trains, and other systems—free of charge with valid identification. This will expand independence, reduce road congestion, and keep communities connected.

By combining modern traffic policy, responsible enforcement, smarter work structures, and respect for personal freedom, we can create a transportation system that works for everyone. Through collaboration, common sense, and compassion, we can ensure New Yorkers spend less time in traffic and more time living their lives.

    Infrastructure Improvements

Strong, modern infrastructure is the backbone of a thriving state. Too many parts of New York have been overlooked for far too long—roads filled with potholes, aging bridges, and public spaces that no longer reflect the strength or dignity of our communities. It is time to rebuild, renew, and reimagine our infrastructure so New Yorkers can feel proud of the place they call home.

We will launch a comprehensive plan to upgrade roads, repair bridges, and modernize critical systems statewide. These improvements will not only enhance safety and convenience—they will create good-paying jobs for local workers and stimulate economic growth in every region of the state.

In addition to repairing core infrastructure, we will invest in facilities that support and protect New Yorkers. This includes building additional domestic violence shelters, expanding access to state-of-the-art hospitals, and developing community-focused projects that strengthen public health, safety, and quality of life. We will even explore opportunities—where fiscally responsible—to build a modern stadium that could finally bring the Jets and Giants home to New York, creating new jobs and boosting economic development.

Smart, Practical Growth in Clean Energy Infrastructure

We will expand access to electric vehicle charging stations throughout the state, making it easier and more convenient for New Yorkers who choose to transition to EVs. But unlike in the past, this transition will be guided by consumer choice—not government pressure. As technology improves and prices fall, EVs will grow naturally as part of the automotive market without mandates or unrealistic deadlines that burden families and businesses.

Protecting Communities from Wildfires and Natural Disasters

Climate challenges are evolving, and New York must stay ahead of the threats affecting our communities. We will evaluate innovative tools—such as Firedome technology—to defend homes, businesses, and natural landscapes from wildfires. Protecting property and preserving our environment is a responsibility we take seriously, and we will pursue solutions grounded in science, safety, and common sense.

    Encouraging Construction & Economic Opportunity

New York will embrace smart, responsible new construction—both residential and commercial—to expand housing, create opportunities, and grow local economies. A revitalized construction sector will offer strong career paths for young people and skilled workers alike. As we roll out these projects, the demand for builders, engineers, tradespeople, and technicians will open doors to thousands of well-paying jobs.

With thoughtful planning, responsible investment, and a commitment to revitalizing every corner of our state, we can build a New York that is safer, stronger, and more connected than ever before. Together, we will transform our infrastructure into something worthy of the great people who call this state home.

    Criminal Justice Reform

A safe New York is a strong New York. Our criminal justice system must protect our communities, use taxpayer dollars responsibly, and uphold the principles of fairness, accountability, and human dignity. Running prisons is extraordinarily expensive, and we must focus incarceration on individuals who pose a genuine threat to public safety. That does not mean nonviolent offenses go unpunished. Instead, we will apply smart alternatives—such as fines, community service, restitution, and structured home monitoring—so that consequences are meaningful, efficient, and cost-effective.

When individuals violate the terms of these alternative sentences, incarceration will remain available as a final measure. Accountability is essential, but it must be paired with compassion, rehabilitation, and common sense.

    Prioritizing Serious & Violent Crimes

For violent or dangerous offenses—such as assault, child exploitation, homicide, DUI with endangerment, robbery, or other severe crimes—incarceration will remain mandatory. These are harms that threaten the fabric of our communities and must be dealt with firmly.

For lower-level offenses such as recreational drug sales, penalties will escalate based on behavior: first offenses may result in fines, supervision, and community service, while repeat or high-risk offenders—especially those targeting minors, participating in violent gangs, or distributing substances laced with fentanyl—will face far stronger criminal consequences. Selling fentanyl-laced drugs that endanger lives will be treated as an attempted homicide offense.

Marijuana laws will also be guided by common sense. Private adult use will remain legal, but public consumption—particularly in places frequented by children—will be regulated to protect families and maintain community standards.

Improving Safety & Order in Correctional Facilities

To protect both staff and inmates, we will strengthen staffing levels in the correctional facilities that remain open and pursue agreements with other states to house the most violent offenders when appropriate and cost-effective. Maintaining order in our correctional system is essential, and that includes reexamining provisions of the 2021 HALT Act to ensure officers have the tools needed to keep facilities safe and stable.

Limited, carefully supervised separation measures—used only when absolutely necessary for safety—may be extended beyond current limits but will remain humane, temporary, and subject to oversight by trained professionals.

Ending the “Revolving Door” for Violent Offenders

We will restore a balanced, bipartisan approach to bail reform—ensuring that individuals charged with violent or dangerous crimes cannot immediately return to the community while awaiting trial. New Yorkers deserve peaceful, safe neighborhoods, and we cannot allow repeat violent offenders to cycle endlessly through the system. Protecting every resident—every child, every senior, every family—is a fundamental obligation of government.

    A Responsible Approach to Sentencing

The death penalty will not be reinstated. However, in extremely rare cases where an individual is sentenced to life without parole, we will allow a voluntary end-of-life option only after extensive mental health counseling and only with the agreement of the judge and the victim’s representative. All three parties must consent.

    Reducing Incarceration Through Smart Alternatives

By shifting nonviolent offenders toward community service, rehabilitation, and structured supervision, we will reduce prison populations and free up resources to support those suffering from homelessness or addiction. Some correctional facilities may be repurposed into treatment centers, shelters, or workforce development hubs—helping people rebuild their lives and return as contributing members of their communities.

If community service opportunities are limited in certain areas, volunteering with reputable nonprofit organizations will be accepted as a meaningful alternative.

A Clear Definition of Violent Crime

Violent crime will include any action that places another person at risk of physical harm—even if an injury does not occur. Examples include drunk driving, armed robbery without injury, or other conduct that endangers human life. These offenses will hold firm consequences, including mandatory jail time and stronger deterrence measures.

Fair, Modern, and Firm DUI Laws

Driving under the influence endangers every New Yorker, and penalties must reflect that reality. We will introduce tough, fair, and consistent DUI penalties designed to deter dangerous behavior, save lives, and protect families. Consequences will escalate with each offense, with additional enhancements when DUIs result in injury, property damage, or the death of an innocent person. Causing a death while driving impaired will be treated as a homicide-level offense.

    Depoliticizing the Justice System

Justice must never be influenced by ideology or political pressure. Every case must be evaluated on its facts, not on partisanship or public opinion. We will establish strong standards to ensure prosecutions are fair, reasonable, and free from political bias. If any prosecutor or judge repeatedly fails to uphold impartiality or abuses their authority, disciplinary action or removal will be pursued. Taxpayer dollars must never again be wasted on politically motivated cases or selective enforcement.

A fair and effective justice system protects communities, upholds compassion, and ensures that consequences are proportionate and meaningful. By focusing incarceration on those who truly threaten public safety—while supporting rehabilitation and accountability for others—we can create safer neighborhoods, reduce costs, and build a stronger, more united New York for generations to come.

    Employee Protections & Work-Life Balance

A strong state is built on strong families, strong workers, and a strong sense of fairness in the workplace. Every New Yorker deserves the security of knowing that their job is protected when they act responsibly and ethically. Our vision is a state where people feel valued, respected, and empowered—both on the job and in their personal lives.

We will strengthen employee protections to ensure no one is fired for reasons unrelated to their ability to do their job. What people choose to do on their own time is their private business, so long as it is legal and does not compromise public safety. For example, professions that involve public safety or professional licensing—like commercial drivers—will still be held to appropriate standards if off-duty actions directly affect job qualifications, such as a DUI conviction. But personal lifestyle choices, social media activity, and online profiles will no longer be grounds for unfair termination.

Fairness in Hiring & Respect for Veterans

We will create strong protections during the hiring process to ensure that every individual—regardless of background—has a fair chance at employment. Our honored veterans, who have sacrificed so much for our country, will be recognized as a protected class, ensuring they are treated with the dignity, respect, and opportunity they have earned. As new jobs and industries grow across New York, every resident should be able to share in that opportunity. No one should be left behind or pushed into homelessness.

Paid Volunteer Days to Strengthen Communities

Service strengthens our communities and brings people together. To encourage civic engagement, full-time employees with at least one year of tenure will receive three paid volunteer days per year to support charitable organizations of their choosing. These days must be used reasonably and with respect for essential business needs—for example, an accountant may be asked to avoid taking a volunteer day immediately before a major deadline. But overall, this policy will empower thousands of New Yorkers to lift up their communities while still supporting their families.

    Putting Families First

Family is the foundation of a healthy and happy society. We will explore additional policies that help New Yorkers achieve true work–life balance, allowing parents to spend meaningful time with their children and loved ones. Kids grow up quickly, and no one should have to choose between being present for life’s precious moments and earning a living.

New York’s workforce deserves fairness, dignity, and the freedom to live full lives both inside and outside the workplace. By protecting employees, supporting families, honoring veterans, and promoting civic engagement, we can build a stronger, kinder, and more unified state where everyone has the chance to thrive.

    Safer Neighborhoods - PEACE

Every New Yorker deserves to feel safe in their home, in their neighborhood, and in their daily life. Protecting our communities is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of government, and under our administration, reducing violence will be a top priority. My lieutenant governor will lead a dedicated statewide initiative focused solely on strengthening public safety, supporting local law enforcement, and addressing the root causes of crime.

We will ensure that areas facing higher rates of crime receive the support they need, including additional well-trained officers and modern equipment that protects both the public and the officers who serve them. “Defunding” the police has proven to be a harmful idea—we will do the opposite. We will invest in training, professionalism, technology, and community partnerships so that tragic outcomes are minimized and trust is strengthened. Those who put their lives on the line for us deserve to be protected and respected, and anyone who attacks an officer will face strong and appropriate consequences.

    We rise above hate—together.

Smart Technology to Prevent and Solve Crime

Technology can be a powerful tool for keeping our neighborhoods safe. We will expand the use of security cameras in public spaces and encourage residents to adopt home security tools, such as doorbell cameras, that help law enforcement quickly identify and apprehend suspects. When the chances of being caught increase, crime decreases—that is simple, effective deterrence.

We will also deploy more license plate readers statewide to track stolen vehicles, locate suspects, and assist in recovering missing children. Every police vehicle will be equipped with advanced plate-reading technology to crack down on fake license plates, uninsured drivers, and hit-and-run offenders. Driving illegally on New York’s roads puts everyone at risk, and our laws will reflect that.

Safety in Schools, Public Spaces, and Large Venues

We will embrace modern safety innovations to protect students, teachers, families, and visitors in every setting—schools, colleges, malls, stadiums, houses of worship, and community centers. Whether public or private, every space where New Yorkers gather should feel safe. This includes reviewing building security, upgrading protective technologies, and supporting staff training that prioritizes prevention and preparedness.

    Leadership Dedicated to Reducing Violence

Our lieutenant governor will be focused mainly on public safety and community protection. Together we will establish a statewide commission—comprised of experts, community leaders, mental health professionals, and volunteers—to study violence, address contributing mental health issues, and recommend practical solutions that we can implement through legislation or policy.

A safer New York is a stronger New York. By supporting law enforcement, embracing proven technology, strengthening community partnerships, and addressing the underlying causes of violence, we will protect every resident—every parent, every child, every neighbor. Our commitment is simple: peaceful streets, united communities, and a state where every New Yorker feels safe and supported.

    Complete Transparency

Trust is earned through honesty, consistency, and clear communication. New Yorkers deserve a government that speaks directly to them—not in vague talking points or carefully rehearsed political lines, but with sincerity and transparency. My commitment is simple: I will always engage openly on matters of public policy, the wellbeing of our state, and the challenges we face together. Personal trivia may not be relevant to governing, but every policy question, every concern, and every issue that affects New Yorkers will receive a clear and direct answer.

I will not shy away from tough questions. I will meet with reporters from every background—those who support me, those who oppose me, and those who stand in the middle. I will never pay for an appearance or seek financial benefit from interviews, and I will not accept endorsements tied to monetary expectations. Instead, I encourage kindness, charity, and service—values that strengthen our communities far more than political transactions ever could.

    Weekly Access to Leadership

After being elected, our administration will hold weekly one-hour press conferences—most likely on Tuesdays—ensuring every New Yorker has consistent access to information. A lottery-style system will select reporters to ask questions live, and any journalist not chosen will be able to submit written questions that receive timely responses. Full transcripts will be posted publicly, so every resident can review both the questions and the answers in their entirety.

Importantly, we will eliminate unnecessary layers between the public and their leaders. We will not rely on spokespeople to speak on our behalf. Questions will be answered directly by the appropriate officials—whether that is me, the lieutenant governor, or subject-matter leaders like the attorney general. You deserve to hear from the people actually doing the work.

    Leadership Through Action, Not Rhetoric

I do not view myself as a traditional politician, and I never will. My focus is not on polished speeches, staged photo-ops, or political maneuvering, but on meaningful action and real results. When we face challenges—as every administration does—we will acknowledge them openly, evaluate the situation honestly, and collaborate on solutions. Government must be adaptable, accountable, and willing to confront problems head-on.

    Accountability at Every Level

I believe deeply in humility and responsibility. If I fail in my mission to improve the lives of New Yorkers, I will step aside. Leadership is a service, not an entitlement. Ego has no place in public office.

In that same spirit, government employees—like employees in any well-run organization—must be held to high standards. There will be no guaranteed immunity from accountability. Those who serve the public with excellence will be recognized and uplifted, and those who refuse to uphold expected standards of integrity, competence, and respect will be replaced.

A transparent government is a trustworthy government. By committing to honesty, accessibility, and accountability at every step, we will build a stronger, more united New York—one where residents know their leaders not only hear them, but answer them.

    An End To Identity Politics

New York is strongest when we stand together. For too long, our politics have been defined by division—party against party, community against community, and neighbor against neighbor. It is time to end the cycle of tribalism that separates us. My mission is to unite all New Yorkers around a shared purpose: building a state where every individual has the opportunity to live a better, safer, and more fulfilling life.

We need leaders who prioritize common sense, compassion, and collaboration—not allegiance to party bosses or rigid ideological lines. My administration will work tirelessly to restore bipartisan leadership and reconnect people across political, racial, and regional divides.

A New Era of Inclusive Political Participation

Imagine a system where New Yorkers vote based on ideas, integrity, and solutions—not party labels. While I am running as a Democrat due to the structure of our current system, I look forward to a future where partisanship no longer defines our elections. We will work toward eliminating partisan voter registration, replacing it with a universal registration that allows every resident to participate freely in any primary or general election.

Removing the Red vs. Blue Divide

To reduce polarization, we will prohibit the display of party labels—such as “R” or “D”—on ballots and in media election coverage. By removing these shortcuts, voters will be encouraged to evaluate candidates based on their character, their plans, and their commitment to serving the public good, rather than on preconceived assumptions.

We will also enact responsible voter ID requirements to strengthen election integrity, while ensuring that every eligible voter has access to a free and convenient form of identification. Secure online voting remains an exciting possibility, and while the system is complex, we will continue exploring technology that protects accuracy and privacy.

    A Balanced and Diverse Administration

Our administration will include voices from across the political spectrum—slightly left, center, and slightly right—to ensure that decisions reflect the full diversity of New York’s perspectives. Checks and balances are essential to good governance, and no viewpoint will dominate at the expense of another. Every idea will be evaluated on its merit and its impact on the people we serve.

Ending One-Party Rule & Restoring Legislative Fairness

We will end the practice of massive multi-issue bills that bury controversial provisions inside hundreds of pages of text. Instead, I will commit to signing only single-issue bills, each under 10 pages, so every law is transparent, focused, and understandable. Moderation will guide my approach—every left-leaning measure will be balanced with a right-leaning counterpart, encouraging lawmakers to work together for the good of the entire state.

Ensuring Every Region Has a Voice

New York’s diverse geography—from New York City to Long Island to upstate rural communities—deserves a system that reflects all voices fairly. We will explore reforms similar to those used in Maine and Nebraska, where electoral votes can be awarded both statewide and by congressional district. This model better reflects the rich diversity of our state and ensures that no one region overwhelms the others. Every New Yorker, regardless of where they live or whom they vote for, deserves to feel represented.

Ending identity politics is not about erasing differences—it is about celebrating them while refusing to allow them to divide us. My commitment is to fight for every New Yorker, not just those who agree with me politically. Together, we can build a state where unity, fairness, and common sense guide our decisions—and where every resident feels heard, valued, and respected.

    Other Miscellaneous Issues

New York faces a wide range of challenges, and true leadership means addressing each of them with honesty, practicality, and compassion. Below is a series of common-sense reforms designed to promote fairness, strengthen families, protect consumers, and restore trust in government.

    Ethics, Integrity & Responsible Government

    • To rebuild confidence in state leadership, all New York lawmakers—and their spouses—will be prohibited from owning individual stocks while in office. Public service must never be used for personal financial gain.
    • Government will be modernized and streamlined. Corruption and incompetence will not be tolerated, and employees who serve with integrity and excellence will be recognized and uplifted. Our goal is a government that is smaller, more efficient, and fully accountable to the people it serves.
    • We will also strengthen ethics rules, implement term limits, and explore age caps for certain positions to prevent entrenched political power and encourage fresh, diverse leadership.

    Everyday Quality of Life Improvements

    • New Yorkers deserve policies that make daily life simpler and more enjoyable. That includes eliminating ineffective items like paper straws and reconsidering outdated regulations that burden residents without improving safety.
    • We will modernize rules on car headlights to ensure safer roads, explore ways to cap excessive pricing practices, and address unfair fees—from concessions at stadiums to inflated airport drink prices. Every policy will reflect fairness and transparency.

Protecting Consumers & Ensuring Fair Pricing

    • We will pursue consumer-friendly policies, including preventing restaurants from charging extra for add-ons while refusing deductions for removed items.
    • We will cap credit card processing fees at 2% and set reasonable limits on interest rates—15% on most loans and 7% for primary-home mortgages—to protect families from predatory financial practices.
    • We will crack down on price gouging by large corporations, ban hidden fees across industries, and hold companies accountable for fair, honest pricing.

Privacy, Data Protection & Technology Responsibility

    • New Yorkers’ personal information belongs to them—not to tech companies. Data cannot be sold or shared without explicit, written permission.
    • We will strengthen digital privacy and promote ethical use of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, especially for improving government efficiency and reducing costs.

Strengthening Families, Supporting Children & Protecting Health

    • We will promote adoption with incentives that help families grow and thrive. To reduce the number of heartbreaking decisions families face, we will expand family and medical leave and offer $1,000 for every newborn—even if placed for adoption. This is about supporting families, not judging them.
    • We will not ban abortion, but we will develop compassionate policies to support women and families so that no one ever feels cornered by circumstance.
    • We will prohibit elective cosmetic surgeries for minors—including gender-related surgeries—while ensuring medically necessary procedures remain fully available. Adults will remain free to make their own choices. Protecting children will always be our first priority.
    • The state will cover funeral expenses for babies under one year old—a small but meaningful support during unimaginable grief.

Public Safety, Community Standards & Respect for Others

    • We will enact strong protections against doxxing to prevent the unauthorized release of private information. When directed at law enforcement or public officials, penalties will be even stronger.
    • We will adopt a zero-violence policy in schools and communities. Violence—whether through bullying, protest-related aggression, or other acts—will not be tolerated. Schools must remain safe places to learn.
    • We will treat reckless e-bike riding the same way we treat other dangerous conduct with escalating penalties and impoundments for repeat violations.
    • We will expand “stand your ground” principles for reasonable self-defense inside the home, while ensuring no one who unlawfully enters a residence can later sue for harm caused during a defensive act. Every family has the right to feel safe at home.

Strengthening Democracy & Reducing Government Overreach

    • We will end multi-hundred-page legislation filled with hidden clauses. All bills will be specific, readable, under 10 pages, and focused on single issues whenever possible.
    • We will remove unnecessary government intrusion in everyday life and end policies that serve no public benefit—such as bottle-deposit punishments. Instead, recycling incentives will be structured positively rather than as penalties.
    • We will revisit squatter-law loopholes, ensure beach access remains free for all New Yorkers, and protect our environment through legal action against reckless polluters.

Fair Elections, Secure Voting & Modern Voting Systems

    • To restore trust in elections, we will end mass mail-in voting and introduce a secure, modern system that allows residents to vote either in person or through a protected state website. Both methods will be available for one week and close at 9 PM on election night.
    • Voters will receive a private, anonymous confirmation code—allowing them to verify their own vote after Election Day, restoring confidence and transparency in the democratic process.

    Economic Fairness & Consumer Choice

    • We will end outdated dealership-protection laws that prevent manufacturers from selling directly to consumers. More competition means better pricing and better choices for New Yorkers.
    • We will explore ways to make higher education more affordable and encourage innovation that reduces costs and expands access.

A State That Works for Everyone

    • These reforms reflect a simple vision: a New York where fairness, opportunity, safety, and common sense guide every decision. By reducing government overreach, protecting families, empowering consumers, and holding leaders accountable, we will build a state where every resident can thrive—united by shared values and a commitment to one another.

    Closing Statement

For far too long, too many in government have focused on preserving their own power instead of serving the people they were elected to represent. That ends with us. My commitment is simple: I will be a governor for all New Yorkers—every community, every background, every voice.

My vision for New York is not influenced by lobbyists, special interests, or political elites. It is guided only by what strengthens our families, expands opportunity, and protects our freedom. When government grows unchecked, people lose their liberty. Together, we will restore that balance.

We will replace political theatrics with real solutions. I will bring a leadership style grounded in results, not rhetoric. My administration will be the first in New York’s history to truly prioritize unity—ending the red-versus-blue battles that have divided neighbors and distracted leaders from the issues that matter most. New Yorkers deserve a government that works for them, not for a party.

Working-class families have been overlooked for far too long, while ideological extremes have dominated public policy. It is time for pragmatic, compassionate, and common-sense leadership that empowers everyday New Yorkers—not the wealthy, not the well-connected, and not the media. This is not just an election—it is the beginning of a movement to restore fairness, accountability, and hope in our state. A new era is coming, and the momentum toward 2026 grows stronger every day.

Right now, every New Yorker feels the effects of policies crafted without their input. But change is within reach. As the 58th Governor of New York, I will work solely for you—not for Albany insiders, not for special interests, and not for political circles that have forgotten who they serve. Your family, your community, and your future will always come first.

And let me be absolutely clear: I do not want your money—I want your voice, your belief, and your vote. We must win decisively to send a message that cannot be ignored: New Yorkers are ready for unity, ready for common sense, and ready for a government that truly belongs to the people.

Together, we will build a New York that is stronger, fairer, safer, and more united than ever before. The movement has begun—now let’s finish it.

Get out and vote. Our future depends on it.

    God Bless New York State,

    Governor Leary 2026
